Dhoni and Sehwag stars in Help for Heroes Charity Match
Indian captain MS Dhoni again become a finisher and helped his team Heroes XI to beat Rest of world XI in a “cricket for Heroes” charity match at Oval, London England on thursday. This game held for fund raiser for the British soldiers injured in the line of duty. This game featured some of the biggest cricketer of past and present.
As Dhoni always play a role of finisher he hit a boundary to help Heroes XI win the match in front of 20000 strong crowd at oval in the final over of the game.
Brendon McCullum’s ROW XI batted first and started aggresively with Mathew Hayden (36). After Mathew Hayden dismissal McCullum nd Mahela Jayawardene added crucial runs in the second half of their innings to take the score to a competitive 158.
In their reply Virendra Sehwag (30) and Andrew Strass current director of England Cricket got off a good partnership to build the inning. They scored 63 runs in first powerplay. After dismissal of both the batsman Heroes needed 82 runs of 10 overs.
Then Dhoni came in and played with in the company of Major Storm Green (British Army) and Middlesex’s David Malan hit lots of boundaries and reduced the asking rate per over.
Then came last over. In last three balls they required 4 runs. In Dhoni style Dhoni finishes of the inning with four run and once again proved he is a great finisher.
He declared “Man of the Match”. This was a fantastic end-of-season party, attended by a galaxy of cricketing stars and 20,000 happy cricket fans,” “To be able to have this good a time whilst raising nearly 300,000 for a wonderful cause is absolutely perfect and I would like to thank everyone who gave their time and effort to make it a truly memorable occasion.” Surrey Chief Executive Richard Gould said in the end of the match.
