This modern era has provided us all the things to make out living comfortable. The common household items that we are using daily make out life easier. But are you aware that these common household items are actually harming us in some way.

1. Room Freshener
Room freshener is commonly used household product to get rid of the bed smell, and to keep the surroundings fresh. But do you that room fresheners can be responsible for impotency in men. Yes, researchers have found that most of the room fresheners contain phthalates that are chemical substances used as plastic softeners, anti-foaming agents, and paints and hence affect the production of testosterone in males and can cause harm to reproductive health.
2. Nail Tools
Nails tool kit should not be shared with anyone. Also if you don not clean it after every use, the bacteria from your skin will get transferred and grow on it, causing skin infection upon using it later.
Sunscreen claims that it protects your screen from Sun’s harmful UV rays, but many contain Oxybenzone and Vitamin-A as retinyl Palmitate that can cause hormone disruption and cancer respectively. Mineral suncreen that contains Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide over the non-mineral ones are advisable as they are not absorbed in the skin.
4. Cotton Ear buds
Digging out wax by poking cotton buds into the ear, regular use and scratching the ear roughly may damage your eardrum leading to loss of hearing.
While it is gentle to have your skin washed with loofah, but if you leave it as it is without washing and drying, bacterial growth on dead skin cells you just scrubbed off may cause skin infection, whenever you use it next.
6. Microwave Oven
Heating the food in low quality plastic can leak the harmful chemical of the plastic (Bisphenol A (BPA)) to the food, which may cause cancer, It is better to use ceramic containers or heat-resistant glasses instead.
7. Non-stick Cookware
Now a day’s non-tick cookware is very popular, as they food cooks fast without sticking. But do you that Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) that has been long used in manufacturing Teflon cookware is a harmful chemical. It releases when the utensil is heated and prolonged usage may cause thyroid, heart diseases and even cancer.
Always remember to buy non-stick cookware labelled POFA-free.
8. Moth Balls
These moth balls or naphthalene balls are often used in homes with winter clothes to make them safe from insects. But they contain paradichlorobenzenes which are insecticides. Prolonged exposure to moth balls can cause irritation in eyes and skin and can also affect the nervous system.
9. Hair dryer
Hair dryers are discouraged as apart from giving us the prefect hair, blow-drying exposes hair to extreme heat and temperature which could be damaging. Using hair dryer on frequent basis can cause hair to dry out and split towards the edges.
10. Ready-to-make food
The ready to make food contains preservative s that reduces the food quality. Also, packed foods have high content of sodium that does no good, rather puts your health at risk.
11. Hand Sanitizer
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer work by killing bacteria on your skin with the active ingredient called triclosan. This solution kills bacteria indiscriminately. We need certain types of “good bacteria” to maintain our overall health, but these get wiped out with the harmful ones. Perhaps more alarming is that a new study, published in PLOS One, suggests using hand sanitizer increases your absorption of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that messes with the body’s endocrine system. Scientists have linked higher levels of BPA to all kinds of health problems, including heart disease, infertility, cancer, and diabetes.
